Bonnie Portzline Presents – Birds With A Gettysburg Address: A Lens On History
June 21, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
SMAS member, Bonnie Portzline, will present a new slideshow of her best photos of birds in and around Gettysburg National Military Park. There also will be a few “Name that Bird!” challenges as she tells backstories to the photographic drama, behaviors, beauty, problem-solving and lighter moments she has witnessed with her camera as birds go about their lives on land hallowed by the ultimate sacrifice. Since the 2013 sesquicentennial of the battle, she has given more than 50 slideshows of her ongoing photography project, “Birds With A Gettysburg Address.” She continues research on her thesis that the birds of Gettysburg provide another historical lens for greater understanding of the story of this most famous little town.
The parking area is located off of Long Lane behind the Gettysburg Hospital.
We will have light refreshments beginning at 6:30 pm, followed by a very brief business meeting. Presentation to start at 7:10 pm. This meeting is free and open to the public.
