This event will feature LIVE music by local bands (Waldo’s first show since 2019), art vendors, and special edition Waldo’s merch. While donations will be solicited during the event, it is free and open to the public at their venue: 17 Lincoln Square Basement in Gettysburg and will run from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, June 12th. Following CDC recommendations, masks will be required by all attendees.
Waldo’s and Company is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to benefit and educate the Gettysburg community through the arts while advocating for local artists and providing a substance-free, creative environment. It started with a small group of artists who couldn’t really afford private studio space on their own and saw a host of barriers to artists who wanted to earn a living. The idea was simple: let’s make the arts accessible in Gettysburg and Adams County.
Over the years, their offerings have grown from a few square feet of studio space and a soda bar to a collection of 7 private studios, a 1300-square-foot tradeshop for ceramics, photography, and printmaking, and a coffee bar that serves fresh-roasted organic coffee and scratch-made beverages.
The volunteers and staff at Waldo’s planned to host a big celebration for their 5th Birthday in 2020. But like so many things, these plans were postponed by the global pandemic and a desire to preserve the health of the community. This year’s event will double as a fundraiser – contributing to Waldo’s goal of sustainable accessibility.
