“BARN ART IS BACK”
The 14th Annual HGAC BarnArt Show & Sale Returns in 2022!

Many of the area’s most noted artists will be showing their work in the 14th Annual BarnArt Show & Sale.

Proceeds from this popular event will benefit the Barn Preservation Project and Grant Program sponsored by Historic Gettysburg-Adams County (HGAC). It will be held at the G.A.R. Hall at 53 East Middle St. in historic downtown Gettysburg from Friday, June 10 until Sunday, June 12.

All the artworks accepted into this unique exhibit must include a representation of a barn or a detail of a barn.

The show opens on Friday, June 10 with an Opening Night Reception that is free and open to the public from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Winners of awards will be announced during the reception at 7:30.

Cash prize for “Best of Show in Fine Art” will be $1,000 (prize donated by J.Jay Mackie, Ph.D. and Monica Oss). There will also be a prize for “Best of Show” in photography and the ever-popular “People’s Choice Award.” New this year will be the “Artists’ Choice” which will be awarded to the artwork voted best by the participating artists.

A special feature of this year’s show will be a presentation of video footage of historic Adams County barns shot during recent barn surveys using drones operated by volunteers Mark Clowney and Loy Elliott. HGAC has surveyed more than 375 barns in Adams County creating a permanent record of each barn as part of the HGAC Barn Registry.

Hours for the BarnArt Show & Sale are Friday, June 10 from 6-8 pm and Sat. June 11 from 10 am – 6 pm and Sun. June 12 from noon until 4:00 pm.

To register for the BarnArt Show & Sale print the “BarnArt 2022 Registration Form” and return it with your registration fee to HGAC. Art works may be offered for display only or they may be offered for sale. HGAC will conduct the sales transactions, retaining 30%, with the artist receiving the balance with 30 days after the close of the Show. All art works MUST be ready to hang. Art Intake dates and times will be provided to registered artists.

The 7th Annual Fast & Furriest 5K race and 1M walk benefits Operation Paws for Homes – an all-breed 501c3 dog rescue. It is one of the rescue’s largest annual fundraisers focused on raising funds toward the medical needs of our dogs.

We’re back again at two locations for Fire in Ice. Catch us hanging with our friends at Federated Charities Frederick. Join us in the front walkway for some BAMF cocktail shooter flights!

In Collaboration with the Salvation Army, because of the pandemic, TriState Events would like to assist the Salvation Army in ensuring the 2021 Christmas season is as magical & memorable for every child. Collecting new unwrapped toys, clothes, jackets, coats, & shoes.

For a fee of just $5, Children visit with Santa for photos, scurry off to make a snowman Ornament/Craft with Santa Elf, and also receive a ticket for a cup of Hot Cocoa from the snack bar.

All photos are emailed to the parents email provided.

Families also have an opportunity for photos with Santa for a one time fee $10 and just $4 per child. Session includes family photos with Santa, then the children scurry off to make a snowman  Ornament/Craft with Santa Elf, and each member (limit 5) receives a ticket for a cup of Hot Cocoa from the snack bar. Additional Hot Cocoa just $3.00.

Join Reins of Rhythm Riding & Horsemanship for their first Charity Benefit FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL. Let’s come together and celebrate community and support local businesses, non-profits and artists! A day in the park with delicious food, great live music, pony rides, and fun for the kids! What a great day out in Shippensburg this will be! Be sure to save the date for the 2nd Saturday in October. For over 10 years, participants have been enjoying this springtime adventure challenge in two separate events, a 50k and 15k, both culminating in a finish-line picnic celebration at the Ironmaster’s Mansion at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, the famed halfway point along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. We are sorry we could not offer the 50k in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, we look forward to offering both events once again in September 2021. You’ll experience the same challenging and rewarding day — the rock scrambles, grueling ascents, ridgeline vistas, wildflowers, rushing streams and lakesides, and epic single track trails through Michaux State Forest.

For those new to the race, the Ironmaster’s Challenge features a 50K Ultra and a 15K Challenge, both of which are open to trail runners and hikers, and feature the beautiful woodlands of Pine Grove Furnace State Park and surrounding Michaux State Forest. Each course is wheel-measured and each event is professionally timed by Pretzel City Sports for instant results. Radio communications, staffed food and water checkpoints, and additional water stations are provided. Every year participants praise the trail course for its challenging features, scenic quality and diversity, and finish-line reception at the charming Ironmaster’s Mansion.

Other benefits included in your registration are a tech t-shirt, a finisher’s premium for the 50K Ultra event, a finishline picnic lunch, and a plentiful supply of local beer provided by our beverage sponsor, Molly Pitcher Brewing Company (Carlisle, PA). Each participant will be provided with instructions, trail maps, check point locations, and water/aid stations.

The Ironmaster’s Challenge is organized as a fundraiser by Central Pennsylvania Conservancy (CPC), the nonprofit land trust for the surrounding five county-region. All proceeds from the race support CPC’s mission to acquire, preserve and protect important natural areas in our region through land acquisition, conservation easements, and outreach. Many of CPC’s projects seek to protect regional trail resources for public access, recreational use, and permanent protection of the surrounding scenic landscapes.

5K Run/walk will be an evening event benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. 100% of net proceeds (i.e. gross receipts minus event expenses) will be paid to Wounded Warrior Project, the Warrior Hunting Adventures, and the Healing Waters Fly Fishing for Wounded Warriors.

SCHEDULE

*Early Packet pick-up will be in the registration building on Thursday August 12th from 6-8pm

*Friday August 13th, 2021 Registration Begins at 6pm

*Run/Walk Begins at 7:30pm

The race begins and ends at Krumpe’s Do-nut Shop. It runs through residential parts of the south end of Hagerstown and through Rose Hill Cemetery. Course is mostly level with a few gentle hills. Surface is smooth macadam road.

Gather your friends and help support cancer treatment & research efforts.

Cost: $15 for vehicle and driver plus $10 each passenger. Ticket includes Poker Run and Pig Roast. Registration Noon-1pm at Boyer Cellars.

You may pre-register at Boyer Cellars Tasting Room any Friday from Noon-6pm, Saturday 11-5pm or Sunday Noon-5pm until the day of the event.
